LOVE STORY OF A GOOD CHURCH GIRL

We got to church quite early, as it is our usual tradition. The compound was already bubbling with life. Different brands of cars packed around, reflecting the social status of the parishioners.
The entire compound was saturated with human activities, hawkers and petty traders displayed their wares anywere it would be visible.
People walking to and fro the walk ways, dressed in different attires. Some were simple and elegant like me, others were extravagant and flashy. Some modest and decent, others wild and provocative.
This was a typical Sunday service, the good, the bad and the ugly all meet here, some to worship the lord, some for entirely different reasons.
Which group do I belong to? I wasn’t sure anymore. I used to be a good girl, but the thoughts that have preoccupied my mind for the past two days, makes me doubt my own self.
Normally, everyone will go his seperate way as soon as we arrived. My mum and dad would find a seat, Osas will meet up with the man servants, while i join the alter girls. Ighalo was always a freelancer.
As i alighted from the car, i made towards the entrance to the church hall.
“did you not hear what i said this morning”? My dad said rather loudly.
“you are sitting next to me hence forth”
I did not want to cause a scene, so i stoped and waited for them.
My parents had a knack for picking seats at the front. This means i had to walk almost the entire length of the hall. The different eyes staring at me made me shy. I notice men, old and young staring at my butt, or looking up at my cleavage. I scanned through the audience hoping to catch sight of Ehis.
Mid way through the hall, i spotted Ruth among the crowd. I fixed my eyes firmly on her, hoping she would turn towards my direction.
She sighted me from her position. I’m very sure she would have come towards me, if my parents weren’t in front of me. My mum hated Ruth and Hannah. They weren’t the most decent of girls anyway.
She made a sign with her hand, to notify me that she will get in touch.
I marched along with my parents, with my head up high, trying not to notice the eyes starring at me.
We got a seat at the front row and settled in, waiting for service to start. Friends and wellwishers stoped by to greet my parents. I was really uncomfortable sitting beside them.
My eyes kept roving about the hall, hoping to see Ehis. He was nowhere to be found.
I turned round, to look directly behind me, i scanned face after face discreetly.
A little tap on my shoulder brought me back to my senses. I turned round to see who it was.
It was Osato, my little friend. Though just 10 years old, he was a little too smart for his age. His mother is a friend of our family.
He greeted my mum and dad, and sat quietly beside me. Osato has always been fond of me. We had developed quite a bond. His sitting close to me did not raise any suspicions.
I could feel him nudging me with his arm several times, so thought the space between us was too tight for him.
I tried to move away a little. Just then, i noticed his palm outstretched, between our tights. There was a neatly folded sheet of paper on it. This has to be a message, i was sure of it.
I looked side ways towards my parents, they were deeply involved in a discussion with the catechist.
I snatched the note from Osato’s palm, and hurriedly tucked it inside my bible.
Osato got up, and hopped away. His mission had been completed.
I opened my bible slowly, looking for the page were i had hidden the note.
I spotted the white paper, and pretended to be reading my bible. The message was short, but It’s very content excited me.
“Behind the house of Mary, please wait till service starts”
I became impatient after reading those words. I couldn’t wait for the d--n service to start. I kept adjusting myself on my seat.
Although there was no name on the note, it was Ruth’s handwriting. The “house of Mary” refers to a small building at one corner of the church compound. It had a statue of Mary built inside. People usually go there to pray.
The sight of the reverend father walking up to the alter made my heart beat faster. The time to leave is gradually coming.
The reverend welcomed everyone to the day’s service. People scrambled to find their seats around. The entire hall was rowdy for a while.
Slowly, normalcy was starting to return. Everyone sat down, and the day’s service was opened with a hymn.
My heart and soul were completely detached from the church. All i could focus on was how to leave the hall without arousing my parent’s suspicion.
I got up from my seat, and moved closer to my mum. I bent down and whispered into her ear.
“i want to buy sanitary pad, my period has suddenly started”
“didn’t you know it would start today? Are you a small child, she answered in a rather irritated tone.
“it happens unexpectedly sometimes”, which was a lie.
My mum put her hands in her purse, and brought out a #500naira note
“hurry before you stain yourself”
I get to accomplish my mission, and also get paid for it, I thought to myself as I made my way out of the hall.
A feeling of eagerness, and excitement coupled with a little guilt dominated my heart. I wondered if Ehis was waiting for me there.
The church compound was much quieter now. The walk way was nearly devoid of people, save for a few people who were probably on a mission too.
I headed straight for the house of Mary. I could see a car parked almost behind the house, a black, Toyota camry, it had tinted Windows making it impossible to see who was inside.
Ruth was standing right next to the car as I approached. She opened the door to the back seat, and waved at me to go in.
My heartbeat raced as i saw Ehis inside the car. A smile enveloped my face. I could barely hide my excitement. He smiled back at me, and hugged me really tight.
He held my chin, and drew me closer to himself for a kiss. I closed my eyes, anticipating the taste of his lips.
A hard knock on the car window sharply interrupted our kiss. It was Ruth, she was trying to warn us of something.
I looked around, and saw my mother walking towards the house of Mary, with fury and haste, clutching on to my bible.
It suddenly hit me, i left the note in my bible. My mum must have found it. God, I’m in trouble again I said to myself.
Ehis saw the troubled look on my face. He smiled, and told me to calm down. Ruth will take care of this.
I doubted him, my mum was quite a detective.
The 6’o clock alarmed buzzed with It’s usual disrespect and insolence. I hated that alarm. It seems to go off during the sweetest part of my sleep.
Unlike most people though, i loved Monday mornings. It meant going back to school. It way my getaway, my only chance of leaving this cell.
Today was a special Monday, i was going to do something i had never done before. I was excited and scared at the same time.
My day began like every other day, i jumped out of bed 5 minutes after the alarm, and dragged myself to the sitting room for morning devotion.
Once again, order than mumbling a few unintelligible words, i had no active participation in the prayers.
My mind was solely focused on getting to school. As soon as the prayer ended, i greeted every one, and headed straight for the kitchen to do my chores.
I finished up quite early, the zeal and speed with which i finished my chores surprised my mum, i was fond of lingering on chores.
I bathed swiftly, and got set for school. My white shirt and blue skirt were properly ironed. There was not a single stain on my stockings.
I looked as neat and tidy as possible, everything was in order. I came out of the house, and sat inside my mum’s car waiting for her to take me to school. She took me to and from school every single day of my 6 years in secondary school.
As i sat there, my mind began to wander. I was about to do something strange and unfamiliar. How ll this day turn out? Where exactly is Ehis going to take me? I was unsure of myself, but i just couldn’t wait to find out.
My mum joined me in the car few minutes later, it was already 7:45am. She started the engine and we zoomed off. My day was just about to start.
The usual traffic in Benin city ensured that i was almost late for school. My mum Droped me off exactly 2 minutes before 8 0’clock. She handed me a hundred naira note for lunch, and zoomed off.
As i walked through the gate, i took time to examine the entire school compound. And kept wondering how i would be able to make it out without being noticed.
The entire compound was tightly secured. The perimeter fence was high, and lined with barbed wire. It was impossible to jump over.
The school had 2 entrances, and 2 security posts. One in front and one behind. Each had stern looking men manning the gates, with strict warning not to allow students out of the compound till the school closes.
The security arrangement in the school, coupled with the hostile nature of the gatemen made the school look more like a federal prison than a learning center.
I walked straight to the assembly hall with my bag firmly hung on my shoulders, as i was already late.
The morning assembly was like every other one. We sang some hymns, recited the national anthem and performed other daily routine.
The principal made an announcement, reminding all SS3 students of the commencement of waec and JAMB registration, we were to part with the sum of 25thousand naira in all.
The annoucement was greeted with some happiness, it meant we would soon be out of secondary school. I can’t wait to be in the university, it would mean one thing…..Freedom!
We marched to our various classes, singing along.
As soon as we sat in class, i moved to Ruth’s seat. I couldn’t contain my excitement. I wanted all the details of the escape plan. How exactly I’m i going to leave this school compound?.
Ruth and Hannah looked at me with surprise and laughed hysterically. My naivity must have amused them. I looked like a curious lamb perhaps.
” Did you bring extra clothes?” Ruth asked
“why? What for?” I asked, genuinely surprised.
“Haba you can’t be walking outside with your school uniform na, you want to tell the entire Benin that you escaped from school?” Hannah replied, a little irritated.
“i didn’t know i had to, so what do we do now?” I asked, with a worried look
“Ruth will give you her own”
“will you?”
Ruth obliged, she always comes in handy for evil deeds. She was like the devil’s assistant to me.
I was about to ask other questions, when the class suddenly became quiet. Our class teacher had just walked in.
I turned around and headed for my seat.
“last period before break” Ruth wispered to me. As I approached my seat.
The morning lessons went by slowly. I barely understood anything that was said in class, thanks to the fear and excitement building up inside me.
The bell rang, to signify the end of the third lesson of the day, and the beginning of the last lesson before break.
The subject was geography, which i don’t offer. I got up and hurried left the class before the teacher arrives. Ruth and Hannah were right behind me. They were both holding their school bags, mine was still on my seat.
They led me towards the security post behind the school. I kept wondering how we were going to walk past the gateman.

The african story of my kingdom

“Darn it!” Jeremy raked a hand through his hair.
He just watched the pretty witch glare at him with killing eyes and took off into her car. How the hell was he supposed to know what to do? Her kind of women- he didn’t know how to handle, but he had kissed her. He shook his head.
He had just entered into a battle with the all cheeky Purity Theodore. How on earth was he gonna face her? How would he tell his father the date went? And the poor man was sick. S--t! He wasn’t gonna go home straight. He was going to drive around town to clear his head, then proceed to the hospital see how his father was doing.
Heaving a sigh, he climbed into his Volvo XC90. He put the key in the ignition hole and the engine flared to life. Silently, he cruise out of the premises of ‘Golden’. His cell buzzed in his pocket. He dug it out. Tricia was calling.
“Hey, babe.” he forced a smile as she answered.
“Jeremy darling, where are you?”
“What do you need my presence for?” he queried sarcastically.
He could hear her growl. He knew she was making a face. Probably sticking her tongue out. He laughed at the thought of that.
“What is funny?”
Her hands should be on her hips now. He cleared his throat. One hand on the wheel, the other on his left ear. “I asked a question.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I am just missing you. I want you here.”
Jeremy scowled. He knew this was definitely going to happen. She’d come begging. Every woman who’d pissed him off was surely gonna do that. Was Purity too?
“I’m busy.” he replied flatly.
“Baby, please don’t be so hard on me.” Tricia pleaded.
“You broke up with me. We’re over.”
“Have you been listening to me? I said I want you back!”
“I’m not a child you can order around.” Smiling ruefully, it was time to spill the bean. “I have a fiancee. I’m engaged.”
He heard her gasping. Her mouth dropped. He smiled pleasingly, then disconnected the call.
*
*
*
“Father, how are you feeling now?” Jeremy touched Edwin Broderick’s fore head. He was burning up. Worry inched on his face. After he had plainly told Tricia the news of his engagement, he parked his vehicle. Took a stroll thinking about so many things. Tricia continued dialling his number, he had ignored her calls. Tricia Cayson, now his ex had been a great company and friend. They’d known each other for close to three years- been confidants and helpers. Tricia fell in love with him and had been making passes at him. Jeremy noticed and asked her out hoping to lovê and settle down with her.
As their relationship progressed, Jeremy got to know so much about her which he found irritating. She had the habit of complaining about almost everything he did, comparing him to her exes and ordering him. Jeremy despised such women. He’d ended their relationship so many times. But Tricia would always come back begging- to relive himself of her constant pleading, he’d say yes, kiss her and they’ll be back again. When he had the opportunity to travel out of town, different women spent the night in his bed. The way, he could forget about Tricia and her constant naggings.
Delighted he was when Tricia called it quits with him after she’d heard he was unfaithful. He rejoiced happily and wasn’t gonna continue dating that nagging batch. With Purity now in the picture, he’d clean up his old acts, have a responsible relationship and get married. What? Did he think of marriage to Purity? He never saw that coming. Phew!
Edwin Broderick smiled weakly. He was on drip. He reached for his son’s hands.
“Don’t worry about me, dear son. How was your date? Purity, I guess she looked so pretty.”
Jeremy raked his other hand through his hair. Seeing the sorry state his father was in, Jeremy couldn’t dare let him know that the date ended in disaster. It never even began, there was never a date between them. How was he even sure that woman was Purity? Her evil smile and tongue lashing words told him so. He beamed at Edwin.
“Um…it was quite a success.” Remembering that breathtaking kiss, he beamed even more. “At least, I enjoyed that.”
Struggling to sit up, Edwin questioned, “What?” his eyes twinkled with delight. He suddenly looked like a two year old. “Tell me son, what did you enjoy?” his grip tightened.
Aww. Jeremy was touched. This Purity got his father all excited and full of strength. What she had that made his father this way, he didn’t know. He was glad he was no more sad. If getting married to Purity would heal his father, then marry her, he would.
Jeremy grinned. “Ah, dad. Its a secret.”
Edwin shot up a brow. “Is it what I’m thinking?”
Jeremy flushed. “I don’t know what you’re thinking.” He released his hand from his father’s and looked away. He felt like a boy in his teens.
Edwin laughed. He choked a little. “I am feeling much better,” he expertly changed the topic, answering his son’s earlier question.
Glad that his father did, Jeremy turned to face him. “I’m happy about that. What did the doctor say is wrong with you?”
“Nothing yet.”
“I’ll see him later. Papa, have you eaten? I brought food.”
“My ever caring son. I have, but will eat what you brought for me.”
“Great!” Jeremy rushed to the chair where he’d dropped te lemon cake he’d bought on his way. “Here, father.”
He laid them on the bed. Helped his father to sit up straight.
“Yummy. This is delicious.” Edwin commended Jeremy.
“Here’s a cup of coffee too.”
“Thanks son. Here, come eat with me.” Edwin offered.
Knowing his father wouldn’t take no for an answer, Jeremy joined him on the bed and started eating.
“I’m a dying old man.”
Jeremy’s throat dried, he coughed. “What do you mean by that?”
“Marry Purity and I’ll live.”
“Let me in!” Jeremy found himself arguing with purity secretary on Monday morning. The woman wouldn’t let him see purity. How did he even get himself into this? It was Edwin Broderick – his father. The man had always dreamed of having a daughter in-law and now he chose Purity. If not for her, he’d die. Jeremy could not afford to lose his father. The mother had died of b----t cancer four years ago. He had managed to scale through the pains it caused him and now his father? No, at least not yet. He must give the man grand children. Purity must marry him- he hates her, but must love her for his father.
*
*
*
“NO! I can’t do that.” Heather protested.
Jeremy raked his hair with his left hand. “How could you not? Call her, let her know she has a visitor.”
Heather shook her head stubbornly. “You want to make me lose my job? I’ve called her and she says no. She doesn’t want to see anybody.” she stressed that last word.
“You didn’t tell her my name.” Jeremy was aware that he was the last person Purity would want to see. But if she heard his name, she might bounce out of her office to scold him. He had to risk that. “Tell her its Jeremy Broderick. I’m her fiance for goodness sake!”
“Fiance?” Heather stared at him, eyes with shock. “My boss has a fiance?” she ruffled her hair and laughed. “Are you sure you’re in the right room?”
Jeremy glowered at the secretary. “Do what I asked!” he commanded in a hostile voice.
Heather quickly dialed Purity’s office line again with shaky hands. She couldn’t look Jeremy in the eye, he frightened her.
*
*
*
Purity could hear the ugly conversation going on between her secretary- Heather and Jeremy. She was stunned when she first heard his voice. How could he show up here after what he’d done last night? She hadn’t forgiven him and had not mapped out what to do to him. And he show his sorry face at her company.
She had directed Heather not to let him in. She wasn’t going to see him. She’d frustrate him, deal with him. Let him know that no one takes advantage of her. When he was done making noise and disturbing, he’d quietly leave. She needed to think.
She smiled to herself with contentment.
Now, she had to think, think about how to handle this Jeremy and then her father. She sighed and rested on her swivel chair. She picked up a pen and notepad. She began writing down things. The inter com began ringing. She answered excitedly; hoping to get news that Jeremy Broderick was gone.
“Has he left?”
“No, ma’am.” Heather grudgingly replied. “Um..ma’am… He says he is Jeremy Broderick.”
She violently struck the pen on her desk. It broke.
“I know that! Tell him to get out!”
“Ma’am, not only that.” Heather’s voice was shaking.
Purity was shocked. What else? Last night, he had introduced himself as her fiance. Has he done the same again? S--t! Heather was known for her big mouth. The whole staff would have heard the latest by the next day. Jeremy! She hoped not.
“What else?” she asked, losing her patience.
“He says he’s your fiance.”
S--t! Purity slammed down the receiver. God! She got off her seat to the window. She stared down the busy streets of New York hoping that she’d be able to calm her nerves cause she wanted nothing than murder Jeremy Broderick. She folded her arms, trying to steady her breathing.
While looking down, she heard noises directly at the front of her door. She turned her head to the direction of the door and listened. The sound was becoming clearer and clearer. Sounds of shoes scrapping the floor.
Sounds like two people struggling. Oh, my goodness! I’d forgotten to lock the door.
Purity hurried to the door. As she got there, it swung open. Her eyes popped out. She could see Heather fiercely fighting with Jeremy, trying to prevent him from pulling down the door. He won- the man.
As they saw her, the struggle died down. They stood apart, conscious that someone else was watching them.
“I’m sorry. I tried to stop him, he didn’t listen.” Heather pointed an accusing finger at Jeremy. “He’s just too strong and so stubborn.” she wanted to cry. She feared she’d lose her job.
Purity scanned Jeremy. She noticed how handsome he looked as his hair was out of place. His suit, light blue shirt and black tie slightly rough. All that made him charming. Charming? That was supposed to be despicable. How…? She quickly composed herself.
To Heather, she said, “Its alright. I can handle this.” She glanced at her. Reading her eyes, she knew Heather was waiting for an answer regarding her job. She smirked. “Heather dear, you’ve still got your job as long as you don’t open your big mouth to tell any one what you heard this lunatic say about us.”
Heather felt slightly relieved. She was certain her smile didn’t come from her heart. “I promise.”
“You can leave now. Shut the door as you go. In fact, you have the day off.” Purity couldn’t risk Heather listening to the upcoming conversation she was going to have with Jeremy. Fiance indeed. “Don’t forget to shut your mouth.”
Heather nodded. She walked out and shut the door. Purity ran to lock it quickly. She turned to Jeremy and eyed him intently.
“What the hell are you doing here?”
“Purity, calm down. I need to talk to you.”
She laughed sardonically. She met his eyes. “I don’t even know you.”
He paced around for few seconds looking confused. “Gosh! I’m Jeremy Broderick. Your-”
“Would you stop that? I am not going to marry you. Where did you even get the guts from to introduce yourself as my husband-to-be?” she furiously questioned.
“Yeah. You are right. I’m not supposed to say that but that’s what’s bringing us together.”
She marched to her desk and sat on it. He followed her but kept standing.
“I don’t understand.”
“My father talked to me about marrying you.”
“And you agreed.” she rolled her eyes.
He took his hands in his pockets. “For a reason.”
She scoffed. “No one does anything without a reason.” She smiled mockingly.
He drew closer to her. “Don’t you want to know that reason?” He could perceive her feminine scent.
She shook her head i oppose- left and right. “I don’t want to know. Simple.”
“Miss. You have to know it this time.”
What is wrong with this guy? How many times do I have to tell him ‘no’? Purity was in no mood for such argument. She decided to shut up her mouth and just nod sideways.
“I’m d--n serious!”Jeremy was beginning to get impatient.
I am too, she wanted to say but she just shook her head left and right.
This was it! He couldn’t take it any longer. “Will you stop being a b---h! Stop acting like you’re miss world or the queen of everyone. Act like a human for once and listen to me!”
A b---h? Miss world? Queen of everyone? Act like a human? Jeremy’s words registered on her head gradually. Of course she was miss world and a princess- soon to be a queen. If she wasn’t acting like a human, then how was she acting? Like an insane one or animalistically? Then this idiot called her a b---h! Who dares call her names? No one. Except her dad- he was an exception cause he was her dad. D--n! Jeremy was crossing his limits. From crushing her cell, to unexpectedly kissing her-no, she hadn’t forgotten it-to carrying her, introducing himself as her God d--n fiance, to calling her names! For God’s sake she was tired of this nonsense and she’d bruised her lip cause of him. She was still trying to get over it.
“Excuse me? Did you just call me a b---h?” She jumped down from her desk.
Jeremy moved backwards.
“Listen to me-”
“I’m not going to listen to you unless you listen to me.”
“Oh, shut up! I am not going to listen to the rubbish you want to tell me. Its about the all-mighty reason why you want me to marry you.” She raised her hands in disgust. Then dropped them.
You’re an imbecile to think I’d agree. As a pretty princess that I am, you are not up to my level and not even my class. I wouldn’t stoop so low to get married to you! You disgust me! I hate you! You did so many unreasonable things to me last night. You’re the devil! An incarnate! Get the hell out of my office! Tell your father that I kicked you out. I don’t want to marry you. I, Purity Theodore said so.”
She was breathing heavily by the time she was done. Perspiration formed on her fore head. She had looked Jeremy in the eye, she saw flashes of anger in them. He stared murderously at her. Her hear skipped a beat. Oops! She had gone too far. No, no she hadn’t. Its him who crossed the boundaries. She wasn’t scared. She took a deep breath.
Jeremy moved towards her. When he got to where her two legs were planted on the floor, he didn’t stop.
Purity was about to fall. She didn’t know what had gotten into him. Why wouldn’t he stop walking. And the way he looked at her, very dangerous, deadly. God! had she said too much? Should she apologise? A million thoughts ran on her mind. She was alone with this man. Heather must have left. She had never been a alone with a man before, what was going to happen? Was he going to hurt her? Shouting for help was the last thing on her mind. She wasn’t going to appear so vulnerable to the people who worked under her. She’d deal with this devil on her own. But how?
In the twinkle of an eye, Purity moved back. She continued till she was trapped between her desk and Jeremy. She sniffed his cologne and was starting to feel dizzy. This man had lots of effects on her. Gazing at his lips, she wanted to taste them again. Purity!
“W-What is wrong with you?” she asked in a hoarse voice.
He smiled evily. The last thing on his mind was to battle words with this pretty witch. He had a more better way to deal with her. He drew his head towards hers. Their faces were inches apart. He could hear the thumping of her heart.
“What do you think?” he drawled.
Purity didn’t want to think. She had lots of things on her mind. She prayed she was wrong. She just had no strength to fight this man. He made her feel weak.
“You want to kiss me like you did last night? Please don’t.” She wasn’t sure if she just did that? Purity was pleading?
He grinned. “Like you didn’t enjoy it. Oh, my. Purity, please stop acting all innocent like you are pure- just as your name says, Purity. I know you are not.”
Of course, I’m pure! That’s why I was given that name. I am pure! She tried defending herself, he didn’t give her the chance.
“Uh-uh. Its my turn to speak. Please listen.” He drew closer to her.
Purity placed her hands on his chest and pushed him. “Go back. Give me a breathing space. You are too close.”
He obeyed. “You must listen to me.”
“I promise.”
The tension between them was reduced a bit. Jeremy also felt relieved. Being so close, he had withheld himself from tearing her clothes and taking her. She made him go crazy with desire. What other woman had gotten him this way? Her lethal mouth and eyes set him ablaze. He enjoyed watching her.
“Sit.”
“Nope. I’ll stand.”
“Let me get straight to the point. I really don’t want a wedding with you.”
That hurt. Why would that hurt her? She didn’t want to wed him either. But it hurt. The reason, she didn’t know.
She forced a smile. “That’s a relief. So, why are you here?” she s----d in a breath.
“My father reminded me of you. Two days ago, he brought up this idea that I marry you. I felt he was joking, but he meant it. You know I was late for our first date. It was because my father had a heart attack the very minute I was about to escape from the house. He pleaded with me to meet with you. I did so. Last night, after you left me, I went to the hospital to see my father, he wants the marriage. If it doesn’t happen, he’ll die. Please help me.”
She stood akimbo. “Wait. I don’t get it. Your father is sick? And his getting better depends on us getting married?”

RIDICULOUS LIFESTYLE OF MY PARENTS

I waited after knocking on the gate twice making sure my knock wasn't so loud but audible . I couldn't have whoever was inside to have a bad impression of me.
I held my hands nervously waiting for the person who was opening the gate to come out. A gentle looking man walked out looking at me.
"Good afternoon," I greeted him ignoring the thoughts that rushed through my head.
"What if this gentle man was her lover or even Fiance?  " I thought.
I decided to be brave. I was going to see her whatever was the case.
The man responded and told me to wait when I told him I was looking for Angela. I couldnt use Ms Jere knowing that would sell me out as a student of hers. I was a man now and I held my head high.
Taking one look at my blue jeans a bit ripped on the front pocket and a short sleeved black shirt, matching with a pair of black casual shoes and I recalled how much they had cost me and smiled, they were worthy it cause I knew they looked so good on my feet i felt my pride rise.
Lifting my arm to smell if i didn't forget to put on roll on and perfume. Satisfied I smelled good,  I sighed as I heard the foot steps from inside. It was obvious she was the one coming cause the sound of the slippers Patting as she walked gave her away.
I was almost starting to imagine her smooth legs and medium sized feet when she stood right in front of me frozen. It was like she had seen a ghost.
Her lips patted as she gazed at me and for a moment I kept my eyes on set on them contemplating how they would taste on mine if i got them just to slid on them in a flash.

She had no makeup on, she looked even more beautiful. Obviously not expecting anyone important, her hair was a bit out of older too, like she just unbraided it as I could see the curls I used to see when my mother was done undoing her hair, Only hers was longer and fall to her shoulders. She had the small part in front dyed with a strip of Gold or Brown I wasn't sure.
My eyes went down her body taking in her jeggings and a loose T-shirt. I was right, she had slippers on her feet, I had to swallow hard. The sight of her well manicured nails was so appealing I felt I could in an instant rub them gently.
All this I visualized in a flash of some seconds, then quickly looked up her face smiling widely.

" hey!" I finally greeted her and she opened her eyes wide to look at me like my voice just confirmed it was me standing before her.

" hey! Am um um ," she stammered completely lost of words.
" what are you doing here? She finally uttered her words.
" well,  I came to see you, I looked for you for months and now here I am," i raised my hands and dropped them on my thigh making a small sound as they patted on my jeans.
" but I don't understand, how did you find me?  I mean who gave...."
" I found a way that's what matters right?"  I asked her, cutting her short. "where there is a will, there is a way you know the saying" I giggled looking at her as she held her hand to the gate.
" are you going to allow me in or what?" I asked her making sure my manly voice came out.
" oh Yeah, sure please come in Jay. Am sorry I was just caught off  guard" she frowned holding the gate to allow me in.
I waited for her to lock back the gate and followed her as she walked towards the house.
I looked around the back where they had a small garden and the rest of the yard had neat green glass. I saw the man who opened the gate for me seated outside the servants quarter relieving me of the negative thoughts I had earlier.
"Come in," she invited me into the house and I followed her passing  through the kitchen before entering the living room with a wide mirrow on the side. Taking a quick look at myself before going to sit where she had offered me a seat.
" I like your house. It's so calm and peaceful " I smiled at her as she sat on the opposite couch facing Me.
" Thank you,  but it's not mine, its for my elder brother and his wife both of them have gone out for the weekend with their kids" she responded with a soft laugh.
" I see"  I smiled back. " it's beautiful anyway," I i shrugged and looked up and around. Our house was much bigger with more defined furniture and planty of some room too but I honestly loved the simplicity of her brother's house.
" so what brings you here Jay, and how are you? I hope there's no problem  home" she started bring me back to the moment.
" oh yeah everyone is okey and like I promised you I never pick fights with my father, he's more calm now that I passed my grade 12."

"I heard and am proud of you" she smiled.
" Yeah thanks, but am not okey. I have not been okey since you left the school" I told her looking direct at her.
" oh no, what happened? Is anything the matter?" She asked,  the sincerity of her concern clearly displayed in her eyes.
I shook my head and chose my next words,
" am not okey Angela," I said almost in a whisper.
She swallowed hard I saw her gullet move up and down at my courage to call her by her first name.
" I have not been okey because I missed you a lot and was sad you never said good bye to me. You know I would have loved to know your whereabouts. I have spent the last 3 months searching for you and trying your line but I never went through. Tell me why you decided to purnish me like this" I went on not looking away from her face.
She shifted uncomfortably in her seat.

"Jay stop talking like that you know my view on this" she responded uncomfortably.
" I can't because you told me I was confused before, are you sure after almost a year and now am 21 am still having some hormone break down? When are you going to understand that I love you and I want you for myself?"  Moving to where she sat I held her hand.
Tell me you don't feel any thing for me. Look into my eyes Angela and tell me you don't have any feelings for me and I swear to God I will never bother you again"
She looked down avoiding my eyes and before she could say a word we heard the gate opening and the sound of a car outside.

I looked up the window and saw a man and woman seated in the front driving in.
" that should be my brother," she told me and I moved back to my previous seat and sank back as we saw them enter the house.
" helo!" The brother extended his hand towards me and I stood up shaking it gently but firmly.
"Hello! How are you sir?" I greeted him and turned to greet his wife and the two girls who I supposed were their kids.
" I saw a vehicle outside and was wondering who's visiting us" he let a laugh and Angela stood up.
" He's Jared, brother , he came to see me" she indicated looking at me and I nodded my head in agreement. Glad she didn't tell him I was her former student.
The man  talked with us for a bit and I easied up realising how cool he was.
" let me leave you two to catch up am going to the other room" he announced and left us.
" feel at home Jared, and it was nice meeting you" he added as he reached the door.

" the pleasure is mine sir, and thank you for the warm welcome but I have to leave now"  I told him looking at Angela who had talked less the entire time.
" okey then safe travel back to your home" he smiled and I stood up to go.
" will you see me out?" I asked Angela.
" Yeah of course I will" she chuckled a little. Standing up and walking me out to the car.

" get in," I ordered opening the car door for her the moment we were outside.
" what? No I can't I have to...."
" please ," i whispered, my eyes pleading.
She got in and sat down as I went round the car to join her inside.
" I still want to talk to you. You have not answered my question"
She looked at me and sighed, but before she said a word I started the car without warning.

" where are you taking me looking like this?" She asked me looking straight at my face.
I smiled, " you will see, and there is nothing wrong with the way you look. I actually like it. You look good."
I saw her shake her head but said nothing .
We both remained quite as I drove to the road down Chainda heading to twin palms and then stopped, after taking a small turn besides the main road and parked  where there was a clearing.
" Jay, I seriously don't know what you are doing but I don't like where this is going. What's the meaning of this? " she asked,  as usual in a calm voice. I wondered if she had ever yeld at anyone. She was way too calm and I loved the peace that surrounded her.
" I asked you a question and I need an answer. Listen, am going away on Monday and I am glad I found you today. I needed to see you and to answer your question of what am doing. It's simple, I want to know how you feel about me. Look at me and tell me you don't feel anything and like I told you earlier, I will leave you alone and will not bother you again. Look into my eyes and tell me the truth please" I pleaded holding her hands as I turned to look at her.
She kept her eyes on the dash board and I couldn't see that woman who was my teacher, all I could see was a woman who I loved so much but with the struggle to look at me.
I held her chin and turned her face towards me .
" am waiting, " i whispered.
She looked straight into my eyes and I took in the softness in them. They looked clouded with some gentle passion which I could cleary interprate.
" I can't do this Jay, please you have to let me be, we are......"
She couldn't get to finish her sentence and I held her mouth with my finger. Patting her lips gently.
" come with me, " I whispered still touching her lips.
" what do you mean," she murmered behind my finger.
I walked to her side and opened the door holding her hand to allow her out.
I placed my phone to the radio in the car and turned the volume as the song I knew she loved cause I always heard it playing softly every time I went to her class  back in school.
I increased the volume as I led her a couple of steps from the vehicle leaving the door open.
I bow my head slightly and asked her, " will you dance with me?"
She looked around and back at me.
" here?" She asked surprised.
" Yeah. A perfect place for a perfect dance" I chuckled and held her close as the gentle music played on.
She was a bit stiff at the beginning, but as I drew her closer I felt her relax and she slowly placed her head on my chest dancing slowly her hands now touching my shoulders.
I stepped back and threw her forward, turning her around and pulled her back into my embrace and I saw her lips curve into a smile.
I held her closer dancing slowly with her my heart at peace and my mind so calm I felt home.
Without talking, allowing the sound of the music take over our thoughts, we danced quietly. I didn't want to let her go, she belonged to me older than me or not, my heart had chosen.
She sighed and slid her hands on my chest stepping back and looked up at me.
" Jay," she begun the sound of her voice making my insides move....
" talk to me Angela, Am all ears"
